Thrombosis and HemostasisWarfarin use quadrupled, ICH incidence decreased![]() A Finnish study has found that while warfarin use in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland, increased 3.6-fold in the 15 years from 1993 to 2008, the annual incidence and fatality rate of warfarin-related intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) decreased by nearly the same rate during that period. Juha Huhtakangas, MD, of Oulu University Hospital in Finland, and colleagues observed that the number of admission INR values above 2.0 to 3.0 decreased during the observation period, suggesting that control of anticoagulant therapy improved over time.
